Scrabbling For Repose and Other Poems
Split Reed Press
out of print
This is John Terpstraís first collection of poems.
From the title poem:
The board game stands propped
on the bed table. Seven letters
each, we drop words
They lie in our silence like cyphered conversation
like clues to character and chance, like trachs
through which you cannot talk, meals
through a straw, like staring out the window
around the room, like victory
Iíve yet to win a single match
against this monumental calculating patience.
